				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>University of Iowa President Sally Mason met with three members of the Iowa Board of Regents to discuss the way the university has been and will be handling <a title="sexual harassment" href="http://sexual-harassments.org/famous-york-steakhouse-pays-600000-sexual-harassment-settlement/">sexual harassment</a> allegations against a former athletics department official.</p>
<p>The meeting was intended to discuss strategies for moving forward with the sexual harassment allegations against Peter Gray, who resigned from his position last week as associate director of Athletic Student Services after an internal investigation found he had violated university policy.</p>
<p>Mason did not reveal much of what was being discussed, but told Cedar Rapids television station KGAN that she is working on the situation.</p>
<p>“Once I have all the facts, I’ll issue some additional statements, and I assure you there will be more actions taken, without a doubt — so stay tuned,” she said. “It’s a work in progress, and we’re going to work as quickly as we can to make sure that all stakeholders who have an interest in this are satisfied at the answers that we’re going to generate.”</p>
<p>Gray had been employed at the university since 2002 and had also worked at the university in the early 90s.  Among the allegations against him, Gray has been accused of trading football tickets and money for sexual favors and inappropriately touching students in a sexual manner.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A legendary New York steakhouse is paying $600,000 to settle a sexual harassment claim. Sparks Steak House, the site of a mafia murder in the 1980s, is settling after a male manager was accused of sexually harassing 22 male waiters at the restaurant. According to the <a title="Equal Employment Opportunity Commission" href="http://www.eeoc.gov/" target="_blank">Equal Employment Opportunity Commission</a>, Sparks Steak House failed to stop the unwanted sexual conduct that took place over nearly eight years. The manager was accused of groping the male waiters, making lewd sexual comments to them and trying to touch their genitals.</p>
<p>Some of the waiters complained about the incidents, but the harassment persisted.  The EEOC also said that some of the victims who came forward were retaliated against.</p>
<p>While many people may think sexual harassment is something that occurs between opposite sexes, with the woman as the victim, according to the EEOC, roughly 16 percent of all sexual harassment incidents reported are filed by men. The agency explains it has filed an increasing number of lawsuits involving male victims and hopes to send a message that any type of unwanted sexual misconduct is unacceptable.</p>
<p>Aside from the monetary settlement, Sparks has been ordered to establish a hotline for reporting <a title="discrimination" href="http://sexual-harassments.org/queens-doorman-files-complaint-sexual-harassment-discrimination-incident/">discrimination</a> and sexual harassment, update their sexual harassment policy and conduct anti-discrimination training for employees.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A former Queens condo doorman has filed a complaint after claiming he was fired for complaining about a sexual harassment and <a title="discrimination" href="http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/qanda.html" target="_blank">discrimination </a>incident.</p>
<p>Jerry Laraque worked at the luxury condo The Foundry in Long Island City, and says he was fired after complaining to board members and the property manager that a building superintendent sexually harassed him as well as insulted him with racial slurs.</p>
<p>Laraque alleges super John Olivieri made several racist remarks at him as well as pinned him against a wall with a broomstick against his neck. In addition, Laraque alleges Olivieri asked him to perform oral sex on him and twice tried to stick his tongue in Laraque&#8217;s mouth.</p>
<p>&#8220;He humiliated me many times,&#8221; Laraque, 30, told the Daily News.</p>
<p>&#8220;These are very serious allegations and we intend to hold him (Olivieri) accountable,&#8221; said Laraque’s sexual harassment lawyer, Kenneth Thompson.</p>
<p>Laraque began working at The Foundry as a security guard in 2008 and was promoted to doorman after a few months following his good performance. The <a title="sexual harassment" href="http://sexual-harassments.org/immigration-customs-enforcement-ice-charged-child-pornography/">sexual harassment</a> allegedly began when Olivieri was a painting contractor for the building and grew worse once he was hired as the superintendent.</p>
<p>Laraque said he complained to &#8220;many people,&#8221; including board members, but nothing was ever accomplished.</p>
<p>&#8220;They sent me to the management, back-and-forth, and nothing was done,&#8221; he told The News. &#8220;They don&#8217;t take it seriously.&#8221;</p>
<p>Property manager Robert Swiderski said he fired Laraque last January citing poor performance and claiming Laraque got into an argument with another employee.</p>

<p>The complaint was filed against the Waikiki Senior Frogs location, which closed down after the allegations. According to the EEOC, male managers would touch female workers inappropriately and urge them to engage in sexual behaviors with them. The lawsuit claims that this conduct occurred on a daily basis.</p>
<p>“One of the reasons we were so concerned about this case is we saw this harassing behavior permeated up to the most senior levels of management. That was a real problem and a real concern for us,” said Amrita Mallik, a senior trial attorney for the commission. “This was a company that seemed to disregard the rights of the women who worked there.”</p>
<p>Nine victims allegedly suffered the sexual harassment, most of which were in their teens and early twenties. In addition, the managers allegedly retaliated against the victims after they complained of the incidents and were given shorter shifts and fewer work hours.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>HOUSTON, TX – A Harris County woman has filed a <a title="sexual harassment" href="http://sexual-harassments.org/state-assembly-candidate-sued-sexual-harassment/">sexual harassment</a> and retaliation lawsuit after claiming she was terminated from her position for reporting incidents.</p>
<p>Valeri Devere filed a lawsuit claiming she was terminated from her position at Forfeiture Support Associates LLC for reporting sexual harassment. According to court papers submitted on Oct. 30 before the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, Devere believes she was fired for “no legitimate reason” and “in retaliation for opposing an unlawful employment practice by making complaints about the inappropriate sexual comments.”</p>
<p>Devere was employed as a records examiner/analyst for the Houston area office of the Virginia-based government contracting agency. She alleges the harassment began in October 2009 when an Immigrant and Customs Enforcement special agent named David Harrison “made inappropriate and cruel comments of a sexual nature which made [her] very uncomfortable.”</p>

<p>The suit states that Harrison, who is not listed as a defendant, was the subject of an investigation which led to the retaliation.  Devere claims she was placed under the supervision of someone acquainted with the alleged harasser, who then claimed she “was resistant to change and was refusing to perform certain types of work.”</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A <a title="sexual harassment lawsuit" href="http://sexual-harassments.org/sexual-harassment-happen-ready-action/">sexual harassment lawsuit</a> has been filed against a Cerritos and Downey area State Assembly candidate by a former female employee against her and her husband’s private company.</p>
<p>Michele Cordova was an employee of Patricia Kotze-Ramos, who is currently running for a State Assembly seat in the greater Cerritos, Downey, and Bell Gardens area. According to Cordova, she was subjected to sexual harassment, <a title="discrimination" href="http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/qanda.html" target="_blank">discrimination, wrongful termination, and breach of contract.</a></p>
<p>The complaint alleges “a long history of sexual harassment directed against Ms. Cordova by defendants and further alleges the defendants terminated her after she had received years of positive work reviews.”</p>
<p>According to Cordova’s sexual harassment lawyer, David Olson: “Ms. Cordova also alleges she was required to provide personal services to the defendants, such as answering phone calls for Ms. Kotze-Ramos’ adult toy business, house-sitting and baby-sitting for the Ramos’s, hosting parties for them, and serving alcohol at those parties, for which she mostly was not paid.”</p>
<p>Olson added that Patricia Kotze-Ramos and her husband George were in the “adult toy business” and operated an on line business called SensualMe.com.</p>
<p>Kotze-Ramos denies the allegations, saying: “I have to give kudos for the imagination and creativity in these allegations but they are completely false.”</p>
<p>“Though creative with a theatrical flair, these allegations are absurd, outrageous and completely false,” Kotze-Ramos said. “Simply put, Ms. Cordova is a former disgruntled employee and she knows exactly why she is no longer our employee.”</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Two teenage sisters have filed a lawsuit against a McDonald’s shift trainer accusing him of sexually harassing them in 2010 and 2011. The teens allege the trainer made inappropriate comments, sent them pornographic cartoon images and even <a title="groped" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groping" target="_blank">groped </a>one of them.</p>
<p>The alleged victims, Cynthia Monahan and Christin Goggin, claim they were repeatedly harassed since 2010 by their trainer at the East 14th Street and Euclid Avenue McDonald’s in Des Moines. When they reported the complaints, the teens say a “sarcastic and demeaning” supervisor reduced their shifts.</p>
<p>According to the lawsuit, Monahan, then 17, and Goggin, then 16, “explicitly and unequivocally rejected” <a title="sexual advances" href="http://sexual-harassments.org/bbc-involved-sexual-harassment-scandal/">sexual advances</a> by shift trainer Gary Sonderleiter. Although they refused his advances, the suit claims Sonderleiter continued to pursue the teens and intensified his efforts.</p>
<p>“I told him that he was making me and my sister very uncomfortable, that he was too old for us and he needed to stop and find someone closer to his own age,” Monahan told The Des Moines Register. “He proceeded to tell me that age is just a number (The lawsuit describes Sonderleiter as being in his 30s).”</p>
<p>“He just was all kinds of weird,” added Goggin. “He was just trying to freak us out.”</p>
<p>Both local and corporate McDonald’s officials declined to comment on the case.</p>
