Charleston, SC- Last week to underclassmen at the Citadel filed a complaint alleging that Steve Munoz, a former aide for both the Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney campaigns, sexually harassed them.

In a report to campus police the two men stated that Munoz, a recent graduate, subjected them to harassment in 2010 and 2011. In separate incidents the man said Munoz solicited them for sex and when he was rejected proceeded to touch and push himself on them.

One of the men said that on one occasion when he and Munoz were watching “The Patriot” in his room, Munoz began to massage his shoulders, put his hand on his inner thigh and when he was rebuffed groped the man’s genitals.

After the incident Munoz allegedly told the man, “it was more okay for guys to be with guys sexually before marriage than to be with girls, and that God would be less angry at the two guys messing around than a guy and a girl.”

The second man said that as when he and Munoz were getting ready to attend the Conservative Political Action Committee, Munoz grabbed him and tried to kiss him. The two men shared a hotel room at CPAC where Munoz allegedly pressed his genitals into the man’s thigh.

Munoz was listed as an aide to the Santorum campaign, but reps for Romney deny he worked on the presidential nominee’s campaign.

No criminal charges have been filed against Munoz at this time, but the men can retain a sexual harassment attorney and file a suit it they wish to seek punitive damages for emotional duress.

Sexual Harassment on college campuses is a growing problem. Most recently, a Columbia graduate student accused a professor of sexual harassment.
