Charlevoix, Mich. – A former executive director of the nonprofit, Challenge Mountain, has filed a lawsuit alleging she was subjected to repeated sexual harassment, retaliation, discrimination, intentional infliction of emotional distress and invasion privacy. Challenge Mountain teaches developmentally disabled people how to ski and other activities.

Former Director, Renita Sue Moody, filed her lawsuit against Challenge Mountain of Walloon Hills Inc. and the Board President, Rob Towne. The case is in mediation and if a settlement is not reached the case could go to trial. Moody is seeking $25,000 in damages. Sexual harassment attorneys use their knowledge and skills to assure their clients receive just settlements in these cases.

Moody alleges that the harassment, by then president Wayne Foucart, began in 2006. Foucart subjected her to vulgar sexual comments. He later resigned after Towne recorded conversations to catch Foucart’s misconduct towards Moody. Moody stated that the harassment continued when Towne took over the position. Her lawsuit alleges that Towne made sexual advances, groped her and coerced her into a sexual relationship. Moody accused Towne of threatening to terminate her employment, which sexual harassment lawyers call retaliation, if their relationship was ever made public. Towne also threatened to “kill her if she made him angry enough or told others about their sexual relationship.”

Most of the sexual relations and harassment occurred on the Challenge Mountain premises. Moody’s lawyer stated that the incidents were “crushing.” The hostility that accompanies any type of harassment can cause emotional problems for the victims. By retaining a sexual harassment attorney, the people subjected to this behavior can put a halt to abuse.
