Shanelle Howard, a background actress on CBS’ “The Mentalist,” has sued Warner Bros. Television over sexual harassment allegations.
According to Howard, her role on the show suffered and was eventually cut completely after she complained that a co-worker sexual harassed her.
Howard, who filed a lawsuit Friday, claims employee Loni Moore and GEP Cencast, the casting agency that deals with background actors on “The Mentalist,” are guilty of creating a hostile work environment because of the harassment.
She alleges Moore subjected her to “a daily barrage of sexually based comments and unsuitable conduct” while working on the show. She also claims she was subjected to physical harassment, included unwanted touching.
After Howard complained of the unwanted sexual behavior in October, she went from working five days to two before her role was completely cut from the show around May. Howard says GEP Cencast also stopped offering her work following the complaint.
The new season of “The Mentalist” is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 30 and the sexual harassment suit will most likely not affect it.
