DENVER, Colorado – The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is suing The Original HoneyBaked Ham Co. of Georgia Inc. for severe sexual harassment conduct at its Colorado stores. In addition, the lawsuit also accuses the company of retaliating against female employees who have come forward about the harassment. .

The EEOC alleged that Wendy Cabrera, a manager at the Highlands Ranch store, and several other women, suffered from “repeat and offensive unwanted sexual comments, innuendos and physical touching by their regional manager” despite coming forward with the allegations. The EEOC also said many of the women were disciplined or fired after filing complaints.

“Cases such as this one show that sexual harassment is still a prevalent problem in the modern workplace,” said EEOC Phoenix district regional attorney Mary Jo O’Neill.

The Original HoneyBaked Ham Co. issued a statement on Monday saying it “does not and will not tolerate any act of sexual harassment.” “When the allegations arose in 2010, we investigated, conducted a full review of the allegations and took immediate actions,” added the company. “It is the policy of The HoneyBaked Ham Co. that all associates should be able to enjoy a work atmosphere free from all forms of discrimination, including harassment.”

The EEOC is asking for compensation on behalf of the victims and is also asking the court to require all managers and human resources personnel undergo training in antidiscrimination law. There are 10 HoneyBaked Ham stores in Colorado.

I was laid off due to a lack of work in 2009. I started at the HBH store on Cobb PkWy in Marietta during the Thanksgiving Holidays. While during the Christmas season I was asked by one of the corporate employees how did I like working for the store. I replied that I was glad to be back being that I work at the Holcomb Bridge location year ago as a counter-supervisor. If you ever worked for HBH you know seasonal position come to an end. I thank them and was asked to come back during the Easter rush. Within that same week i received a call from that same coporate employee with an offer for a permanant position with the company at another location. I except to meet with him at that location on the east-west connector the day I was to start so he could introduce me to the manager (male) & asstiant manager(female). Who were there for only a short period of time. I assure you I was not the first to know their was more than ham sales going on. I realized that when I walked in on one changing their shirt in front of the other after it was ironed, when their was restrooms that would serve for changing purposes I started documenting what I saw and heard. But my theory was more there was more going on then ham sales. They were only their a short period of time. All I know is what I witness with my own eyes and heard. They were replaced by two female managers. Now the cover-up began. I was subject to sexual assualt by the same corporate employee that felt i would be a great supervisor for the east-west location. I spoke with someone about the situation which was one of the newly replaced managers. She then took my concern to the manager. That when HR went to playing games. Well I want to say more but after 8 yrs of service I was being set up for the fall. Two miscarriages and placed on unemployment because they were just buying time to set me up after time after time. That why I carry my best friend with me everywhere I go I know God voice when I hear it. Racketeering. With my formal dealing with Tyco and that scandaless Cochran Firm, now Honeybaked Ham Scandal I often say why me lord? Well there a lesson to be learn when you except some people generosity don’t forget to check out their motives. I once to a manager after being harassed and money being taken under my number and confront about it. I know I was moved again so my paper could be taken so I would not have proof that any sexual misconduct was during my employment with The Honeybaked Ham Company. When a male employee pull u by the pants asking can he feel your private area and he holds a corporate position and then a manager is removed because of her knowledge of the incident that when I knew they will make it seem like it was you well they started a little to late. That when the hook up came men were coming at me left to right. Finally a male friend said I was fired because a women said that I sexually harassed her and it was all because she did get a position. Now looking back on that position he kissed me right were that same manager pull me towards him as he blocked the door with part of his body which was the only way i could enter behind the counter unless I phyiscally jump over it from the lobby. Here comes the most shocking that other manager I had a garnishment that she should have mailed to corporate and she neglected to do that when the little student came in started taking money. But guess what now that made it seem like I was desperate. Reason being By HoneyBaked not answering to the garnishment they were held liable. No matter what my day in court will come. Edwina Davis / Mary Neal check out the terrifying story that will make you want to call on the Lord God and the FBI. They had exist

I will stand up for others because the bleach incident the burn on my arm and the harassment from this experience my allegation are true and i was written up and laid off documentation destroyed but. I come to realize for this to be a family own business how far will they go to protect their assets and what about the employees that work hard and are subject to mistreatment because you claim you are not aware of this type behavior or you get caught in the mist of your dirt. Laid off that was a great exscape goat but I will stand if I have to stand alone that had to know what is going on inside their company. I will be on the radio in Michingan Feb 19, 2012 I will reachout to the victims in hopes their result or not as horrible as mines and we put an end to this type of unlawful practices from companies.
